Introduction:

The history of Seven Sisters of India is interesting and deep-rooted. There were initially three major states during independence. Assam was a huge state and Manipur and Tripura were princely states. Gradually rest of the 4 states were formed. Nagaland was formed in 1963, Meghalaya in 1972, and Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh in 1987. The Seven Sisters of India have religious, ethnic and cultural diversities and have rich, assorted and interesting tribal cultures and traditions. We hope that thisย list of seven sisters of Indiaย has helped you know more about them.

Tour programme:

Day 1-Arrival Guwahati

Today you will be arriving at Morning Guwahati Airport/Guwahati Station. Assistance on arrival and directly transfer to Hotel. Afternoonย  visitย ย Kamakhya Temple ,Umananda Temple ,Kalakshetra, Balaji Temple back to hotel. Over Night stay at Guwahati Hotel.

Day 2-Guwahati โ€“ Shillong (100 km / 3 Hrs approx.)

After breakfast you will be driven to Shillong, on the way visit Umiam Lake (Guest can do boat ride on direct payment basis). On arrival at Shillong check โ€“in at the hotel. In the evening guest can walk around the Local Lewduh ( Police Bazar) Market at Shillong. Overnight stay at Shillong.

Day 3-Shillong โ€“ Cherrapunjee โ€“ Shillong( 54 km / 2 Hrs approx.)

This morning, you will proceed to a day excursion to Cherrapunjee (54 km from Shillong) Cherrapunjee, the capital of the British till 1874 affords an astounding perspective on the essence of Meghalaya, โ€˜The Abode of Clouds. Visit the waterfalls, View points, etc. After sightseeing back to Shillong via Elephant falls .Overnight stay.

Day 4-ย Shillong โ€“ Mawlynnong โ€“ Shillong( 78 km / 2.5 Hrs approx.)

Morning after an early breakfast, you will proceed for a full day excursion to, Mawlynnong Village with Living Root Bridge has earned the distinction of being the Cleanest Village in Asia the picturesque village, offers many interesting sights such as the living root bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. Mawlynnong nestled in the pristine hill state of Meghalaya, is along the Indo-Bangla border known as Dawki Village. This cute and colourful little village is known for its cleanliness. Overnight stay at Shillong.

Day 5-Shillong- Bhalukpong( 300 km / 7 Hrs approx.)

On the 5th day of the tour, have a scrumptious meal and then complete the check-out formalities. Head towards Bhalukpong, which is considered the entry point of Arunachal Pradesh. On arrival, check-in at the hotel and unwind. After freshening up, you will visit Tipi Orchidarium, which is home to over 2,600 cultivated orchids from 80 different species. Explore the enchanting beauty of this quaint town and then return to the hotel.

ย Day 6-Bhalukpong โ€“ Dirang( 140 km / 4.5 Hrs approx.)

Enjoy the toothsome breakfast and then complete the check-out formalities at the hotel. Head towards Dirang, which is situated on the bank of River Kameng and is a gateway to Tawang. Enjoy the road trip and the scenic vistas en route.On arrival in Dirang, you will have an assisted transfer to the hotel. Complete the check-in formalities and rest for a while. In the afternoon, get ready to visit Dirang Dzong. You will also visit Monpa Village, one of the countryโ€™s richest biodiversity and heritage spots. Explore the village and you can also talk with the locals to learn about the history and folklore of the village.

Day 7-Dirang โ€“ Tawang( 135 km / 4 Hrs approx.)

Morning transfer Dirang to Tawang on theway visit Hot spring water, salapass(13,700ft), Jaswantgarhmuseum. Selapass & Jaswantgarh museumย  is a historicalย places.Night stay at Tawang.

Day 8-ย Tawang Sightseeing Tour

Morning visit Bum La Pass &ย  Madhuri Lake ,Theย Bum La Passย is located about 37ย km away fromย Tawangย inย Arunachal Pradesh, at the Indo-China border above 15,200ย ft above sea level.Bum La Pass & Madhuri Lake middle point isย  Y junction.Visit by civilian tourist of India is permissible with permission from theย Indian Army. The track is very treacherous, onlyย SUVsย advisable, and that too only on clear weather day with no snowfall or rainfall.

Day 9- Tawang โ€“ Bomdila (177 km / 5 Hrs approx.)

Enjoy the delectable breakfast at the hotel, check out from the hotel, and proceed to Bomdila. En route visit Nag Temple, Bomdila Monastery, and if time permits, also visit Craft Center. After the sightseeing tour, head towards Bomdila.

Day 10-ย Bomdila โ€“ Kaziranga ( 243 km / 7 Hrs approx.)

Wake up to a toothsome meal, complete the check out from the hotel, and head towards Kaziranga. This town is popular for Kaziranga National Park, an amazing place to visit in Assam.On your arrival in Kaziranga, you will have an assisted transfer to the hotel. Complete the check-in formalities at the hotel and unwind. The rest of the day is at your leisure. You can explore the nearby places of the resort or relax in your room.

Day 11-Kaziranga Sightseeing Tour

Wake up early in the morning and proceed for an elephant safari from 5:30 AM to 6:30 AM in the western range of the national park. The main attraction of this wildlife park includes One-horned Rhinoceros, tiger, wild buffalo, elephant, deer, python, and a variety of migratory birds.Later, return to the hotel for refreshment. After breakfast, head towards the nearby local village to see their way of life and livelihood and also visit Tea Garden & Orchid Sanctuary.Night stay at Kaziranga.

Day 12-ย Kaziranga โ€“ Majuli (243 km/ 7hrs approx.)

After reaching the island, you will have an assisted transfer to the hotel. First, complete the check-in formalities and relax.Night stay at Majuli.

Day 13-Majuli

Post breakfast, proceed for a full day sightseeing tour of Majuli. Visit the Kamala Bari Satra and Auniati Satra, which are major Vaishnavite culture centers here. You can also spend time spotting rare birds and the later part of the day spent learning about their traditional arts and crafts with the local people. Witness the practice of Mask Making for Bhaona, the traditional operas which depict stories from Hindu mythology.

In the afternoon, attend a prayer session at the Namghar (temple) and in the evening, you can enjoy the cultural events by the local artists. Afterward, come back to the hotel for an overnight stay and enjoy dinner.

Day 14-Majuli โ€“ Kohima (232 km / 7Hrs approx.)

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and head towards the Ghat to take the ferry for Jorhat. Upon your arrival to Kohima, you will have an assisted transfer to the hotel. Complete the check-in formalities at the hotel. After freshening up, get ready for the sightseeing tour of Kohima. You will visit the Kohima War Centenary, which has been constructed in the memory of martyrs of the Second World War. It was built by the Japanese force which had invaded the place.Return to the hotel after the exploration tour. Have a scrumptious dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 15-ย Kohima Sightseeing Tour

Today, you will embark on the sightseeing tour of Kohima and explore the worth-visiting places that make this day memorable. Then, you will hit the road to go to Khonoma village, a well-known historical village.In the afternoon, you will visit the State Museum, where you will get a sneak peek into the tribal lifestyle and rich culture of the Nagas. In the evening, return to Kohima. Savor dinner at the hotel and slip into your cozy bed for a restful night.

Day 16-Kohima โ€“Touphema Village โ€“ Kohima (34 km / 1 hour)

After having a lip-smacking breakfast, get ready and head straight to the Touphema Village Resort, owned and managed by the Angami Naga community. Later, take delight in the cultural presentation by village folks. In the evening, return to Kohima. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 17-Kohima โ€“ Imphal (138 km / 4 hrs approx.)

Begin day 17 of the tour with a healthy breakfast and then complete the check-out formalities from the hotel. Then, start your road trip to Imphal. On arrival, check in to the hotel and unwind. Day 18-Sightseeing Tour of Imphal

You will visit the popular Keibul Lamjao National Park, which is famed as the worldโ€™s only floating national park.The other dayโ€™s visits include Loktak Lake, which is the largest freshwater lake in the northeast region of India, the INA Memorial, and the Japanese War Memorial. After the tour, return to the hotel.

Day 19-ย Imphal Tour

Wake up to a beautiful day, savor a delicious breakfast, and get ready for the sightseeing tour of the city. Visit Andro Village, which is an offbeat place in Imphal and an amazing place to sneak peek into the rich history of the state.Afterward, visit the Kangla Fort, which is situated on the bank of the Imphal River. Day 20-ย Imphal โ€“ Moreh โ€“ Imphal ( 108 km / 3Hrs)

Start your day with a healthy breakfast and then leave early in the morning to visit Moreh, which is the Indo-Myanmar border town. On arrival in Moreh, you cross over to the Myanmar side and visit the nearest town of Tamu to witness the local culture and lifestyle. You will also visit the Buddhist Pagoda and the local market. Enjoy shopping in the Namphalong Market and buy some souvenirs for your loved ones.

Day 21-Imphal โ€“ Silchar( 266 km / 9Hrs)

After Breakfast transfer to silchar.Night stay at Silchar.

Day 22- Silcharย โ€“ Aizawl( 176 km / 6Hrs)

After Breakfast transfer to Aizal.Night stay at Aizal.

Day 23 โ€“ย Sightseeing Tour of Aizawl

Relish an appetizing breakfast at the hotel and give a perfect start to your day with a sightseeing tour at Aizawl. You will visit the famous museums, the Zoological Garden in Durtlang, and Handloom and Handicraft centers.Later, visit a nearby Mizo tribal village where you can observe the traditional lifestyle of the people. You can also enjoy the mesmerizing views of the surrounding region from the village. In the evening, enjoy shopping at the Bara Bazar. Day 24-Aizawl Tour

On the 23rd day of the Northeast tour, embark on the sightseeing tour of the city after breakfast. Visit the State Museum at MacDonald Hill. Also, visit various Handlooms and Handicrafts Centres and enjoy shopping.In the afternoon, visit a viewpoint situated in the Aizawl Theological College, Durtlang, from where you can enjoy the enchanting view of the city. Day 25-Aizawl โ€“ Agartala

After Breakfast transfer to Agartala.Night stay at Agartala.

Day 26-Agartala โ€“ Unakoti โ€“ Agartala

Savor the scrumptious breakfast and then get ready for the sightseeing tour of Unakoti.Post breakfast proceeds for visiting Unakoti. It is a historic Shaivites pilgrimage spot and dates back to the 7th โ€“ 9th centuries.After the sightseeing tour of this magnificent place, return to Agartala. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 27-Agartala โ€“ Neermahal โ€“ Agartala (53 km / 1.5 hours approx.)

Greet the early morning, enjoy an appetizing breakfast, and head towards Neermahal for the full-day sightseeing tour. It is a former royal palace built by the king of Tripura, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishor Manikya.

Afterward visit Tripura Sundari Temple in Matabari, which is also known as Devi Tripureshwari. Seek blessings at the temple and then head towards Agartala. En route visit Sipahijala, Ujjayanta Palace, Kunjaban Palace, and Jagannath Temple. The evening is free at your leisure. You can rest in your room or visit the market for shopping. Day 28-ย Agartala โ€“ Udaipur โ€“ Agartala ( 50 km / 1 hrs approx.)

After breakfast, proceed for a day excursion to Udaipur, also known as Rangamati. This city is popular for temples and the most famous of which is the Tripura Sundari temple, which is one of the 51 Shakti Pethas. You will also visit Bhuvaneshwari Temple. Seek blessings at the temples and soak in the blissful aura.In the afternoon, return to Agartala and the rest of the evening is at your leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Agartala.

Day 29-ย Leave Agartala

This is the last of the exploration tour of the Seven Sister States. Post breakfast, complete the check-out formalities from the hotel and have an assisted transfer to Agartala Airport for onward destination.
